It was a chance for our Juniors to shine at the Home of Amputee Football across the weekend as they enjoyed their second training camp of 2024.

Over 40 youngsters demonstrated their skills and abilities, with coaching from our fully FA-licensed coaches providing them with a fun and inclusive environment to develop.

Speaking to the official EAFA website, Junior coach Will Yung spoke of his excitement for the future of EAFA, he said: “It was great to have the juniors back.

“It was amazing to welcome new faces (boys and girls) and to see the future of English amputee football growing.”

EAFA’s Junior programme is made possible thanks to the generous support of The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme, ensuring amputees and those with limb-affecting disabilities aged four to 18-years-old will enjoy six training camps in 2024.

The Lancashire-based business committed to sponsoring our Junior programme for another year in 2024. Their support has enabled a record number of children from across the country access to amputee football.

“With us now having both men's and women's national teams it’s encouraging that both teams can utilise the development of this Junior programme to ensure they (national teams) have every chance of success on the international stage in the future,” Will noted.

“It’s great for them to have the opportunity and to see a potential pathway into those teams.”

The increase in youngsters involved in amputee football also benefits domestic clubs who compete in our IKO EAFA League structure.

Marni Voak became the second woman to play in the IKO EAFL after making her Chelsea debut last month. As well as this, she’s a true representative as to what our Junior programme is there for, as she now takes a position amongst the women’s national team.
