Scott Rogers steps down as Head Coach of Men's National Team

Scott Rogers has announced his decision to step down as the England men’s national team head coach, after spending over a year in the role.

Across Scott’s time in charge, he had overseen EAFA’s most successful period in over three decades as well as assembling a young, hungry squad that will compete for years to come.

The standout moment of Scotty’s reign has to of course be the Nations League triumph in the summer of 2023 in which he described as the proudest moment as the gaffer.

Rogers’ side defeated Spain, Poland and Turkey to be crowned the best team on the continent as well as earning EAFA’s first major silverware since 1990 and a memory that all involved will cherish forever.

He said, “I’ve had a number of really great moments as manager but it’s hard to look passed the Nations League win as my proudest moment and a proud moment for the team too.

“I remember standing back and watching the team lift the trophy and thinking how special of an experience it had been and what a special moment.”

Scott’s predecessor, Owen Coyle spoke glowingly about Rogers’ time as head coach of the national team.

Coyle said, “we had decided we needed to appoint a new head coach as I was stepping away and Scott was the clear candidate for the role given his experience and knowledge, having worked with me as part of the technical team at EAFA.

“As soon as he took on the job, he significantly improved the programme and moved it forward and successfully built on what had previously been done, then he oversaw the evolution of the squad in to a trophy winning team.”

Although Scott’s time as head coach may be over, the moments he has given us will be everlasting.

From the highs of Nations League glory to the agony of losing the Amp Cup on goal difference and everything in between, the EAFA would like to highlight its recognition and appreciation for his work and commitment to the charity over his time here.
