After the recent tragic events in Turkey and Syria resulting in the deaths of thousands of people, it is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of four amputee footballers.
Iran national team players Mehdi Saeidavi, Mohammad Reza Mirahmadi and Hamed Matroudi have sadly passed away alongside their teammate Nkam Elvis of the Cameroon national team.
All four players were members of the amputee football team Malatya Büyükşehir, with Nkam Elvis joining the Turkish club in December 2022.
The EAFA Committee Member Owen Coyle said: “Our thoughts are with those impacted by the earthquake in Turkey.
“Unfortunately, we have lost four talented members of the amputee football family in the most tragic circumstances.
“We send our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Mehdi, Mohammed, Hamed and Nkam at this extremely difficult time
A minute's silence will be held prior to next week’s league fixtures at Reaseheath College with players wearing black arm bands.
